Dr. Spiegel is the founder and CEO of RIO SYSTEMS LTD. Prior of establishing RIO SYSTEMS LTD, in 2005, Solon served between 2001 and 2004 as the Head of Radio System Engineering at u-blox AG, Switzerland, managing radio R&D activities and the RF group for development of the GPS receiver. He served between 2000 and 2001 as senior research member at Intel (former DSPC), Israel, leading projects in the area of multi-standard wireless transceivers and during 1999, he was member of the staff at IBM research lab, Israel, involved in the development of analog-to-digital converters. From 1995 to 1999, he served as research member in the microwave division at RAFAEL - The Israel Armament Development Authority. Between 1992 and 1995 he was with the Technion, Israel and from 1990 to 1992 with the Military Institute of Engineering, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil working in the area of power amplifiers. He started its professional carrier at EMBRATEL (Brazilian Telecommunication Company) in 1984 where he worked until 1990 in data networks and protocols. Solon has led several industry projects, consulted in the area of system and IC design to numerous companies in the area of analog, mixed-signal and RF, received R&D grants in Israel and abroad, participated as member of the TPC of several conferences and represented RIO SYSTEMS in the EU and Israeli R&D programs. Since 2008, he lectures IC design courses at the Brazilian integrated circuit program (IC-Brazil). His technical areas of expertise include radio architecture, wireless transceivers and communication standards, GPS, radio frequency power amplifiers, analog and mixed-signal circuits, RFIC and microwave design and verification and, semiconductor device technologies. Dr. Spiegel holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees from the Technion, Israel and Millitary Institute of Engineering, Brazil, B.Sc. degree from the University Gama Filho, Brazil and Executive MBA in Management of Technology from the Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne, Switzerland. He authored and co-authored over 40 publications in premium refereed journals and conferences and holds 5 patents. He is senior member of IEEE and is currently serving as the chairman of IEEE-Israel solid-state society. Dr. Spiegel is a regular lecturer of radio frequency and analog IC design courses at Bar-Ilan University. |
